As you travel you may find locations that are hostile to VPN traffic and will detect your encrypted communications using 'deep packet inspection'.

Patriot VPN is constantly working to use technology in order to protect and shield our users from prying eyes.

There are additional configurations that will allow you to 'tweak' your VPN in order to avoid detection.

  1. On your laptop or desktop computer, open the VPN client and click on 'Settings':

    Click on Settings
  2. Click on the 'Advanced' tab and ensure your connection is in 'Stealth' mode, and also check that you have your 'Auto Update' turned on as we occasionally release new versions:

Click Advanced, Stealth, and Auto Update
  3. If your VPN connection is still being detected, try clicking on TCP or UDP and trying a more common port like 80 (http):

    TCP Port Selection

    UDP port selection

  4. Additionally, if you are in a country that is hostile to VPN traffic (China, Russia, France) make sure to try a different Internet connection as certain hotspot locations may be Government monitored (see the article on a man-in-the-middle attack here).
